More information below:

The two spots we're going to shoot for Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Maine feature smoke—in one case inside a house, and in another inside a car however please know the "smoke" will be edited into the commercial after the shoot. Children will not be near smoke at any time during the shoot.

The smoke travels around obstacles, sticks to things like teddy bears and in the end, finds its target, a small child who's cowering in a corner or his/her car seat.

This does not end good for the child, please be sure parents know this. However, they will be very sensitive to the child's potential fears when shooting, parents will be near by observing everything and immediately available to their child should they need them.

Ages: children from 3 to 6. One boy and one girl.

Wardrobe: just dress like kids

The toughest thing the child will have to do in the commercial is cower—shrink down and look afraid. When they are at the audition, the casting folks would like to see them try this.

The other obvious need is a child who can play act for a few hours. Most children know that smoking is bad and they will need to be pretending that the smoke (which they will not see as smoke will be added via computer editing later) is bothering them.
The casting folks write "child must be flexible enough to bear up under the burden of a few hours of being directed to do this strange thing without becoming too shy or freaking out." There may be callbacks with a few finalists.

The house shoot will happen during daylight hours but the car will be shot at night. In both cases we should plan to have the child for 2-3 hours. Nighttime would probably start about 8:00. Our shoot dates are May 5, 6 or 7. One spot one day, another the second, third is a rain date.
